The Classroom of Mr. Stathis

Mare Island Health and Fitness Academy

These are some Special memories Mr. Stathis is sharing for all who he thought would appreciate them.

Many Memories From Many Years

Mr. Stathis always said, "I am your servant, the servant of your Education, at your service for your learning!"

We ALWAYS WANTED to be there, in Classroom 16...there was always something special every day there...we felt special there.

A new beginning with a new student and for her, a new Teacher. Acsa and Mr. Stathis

Here, about 3-quarters of the way through the School-year, it was time to pull out the FOLDERS.. Ah, those FOLDERS, where we had all our GREAT WORK in all our subjects of learning. Every-once-in-a-while we had to get ORGANIZED with them. Especially ALL THOSE GREAT STORIES we did.

A beautiful message about STORIES.

Because we did so much, organizing our works of knowledge helped us FEEL and THINK-ABOUT how important School is! ....Everybody's got masks because this was the year after that horrible year when schools were closed because of COVID. The first year back, masks were required.

Exploring THE NEWS! ...Though the children of Classroom 16 were between 9 and 11 years old, yet Mr. Stathis ensured that part of their education was staying-in-touch with, and taking interest in THE NEWS. This was done in 3 ways: 1) Through the Homework every Wednesday; 2) Special Class projects related to significant events happening in the World; 3) Classroom Duties News Reporters, or when their was an issue or question opened-up somehow in conversation and further information was to be sought, students would further explore through the Internet on computers. Here's Emily and Ezra seeking-out information on some significant current event to report to class on.

Mario and Class ready for Launch Day! Mario made 2 rockets and got to fire-off both of them! June 2023.

Mr. Stathis's older son, who is also a Teacher, was Teaching in Alaska and his school-year ended before Classroom 16 was done. He came down to California for a visit at the end of the year. Mr. Stathis had taken Ben to India many times throughout Ben's youth where Ben studied the sacred Indian Drums, called Tablas, while Mr. Stathis studied the sacred stringed instrument called the Sitar. Ben amazed the class with his Tabla playing.

Three times during his 7 years as Teacher of Classroom 16, Mr. Stathis gave to his students Special Coins for Christmas gifts. During this year of this photo he gave a few for which students could start their own collections, here being shown making Coin Collection folders. What a special memory!
